A few weeks ago, I was chatting with my best friend via gchat (our everyday ritual), and it came to my attention that our conversations have shifted from “oh man, I got so wasted last night” and “you won’t believe who I hooked up with” to “what products do you use to get out a red wine stain” and “hey, can you send me that slow-cooker recipe you were raving about last night.” At first blush, my best friend and I seem very lame, but I assure you we’re not. We’re just past the point in our twenties where everything is about partying and dating random guys. Both of us are in serious, committed relationships, and have great jobs that we really care about. Our priorities have changed, and dare I say we have become… gulp… adults, and double gulp… domesticated!
But here’s the thing, we come from the generation that home-ec and training to be Betty Crocker were not the norms. So, I find myself and many of the women around me ill-equipped to transition from a Ms. to a Mrs., or even a self-reliant twenty-something. Which is where this blog comes in. Every day I’ll try and offer insight from my own life and the amazing women around me and give tips on money management, eating right, working out, and fun stuff like date ideas, recipe exchanges, and a monthly (optional) book club. And in my own personal journey to become a Mrs., we can all learn how to tame our twenties!
